Balance is Key on your Corrugator ⚙️📦 In the corrugation industry, we often face the annoying problem of sheet cracking. Many operators think that slowing down the machine will fix it, but on a high-speed line, slowing down can actually make it worse Through practical experience, here is what we’ve learned about keeping your sheets flexible and crack-free: ✅ 1. Lower the Speed? Lower the Steam! If you have to reduce the machine speed, you must lower your steam pressure. When the paper moves slowly, it spends too much time on the hot plates. High steam at low speed cooks the paper, making it brittle and easy to crack. ✅ 2. Reduce Heating Section Pressure It’s not just about temperature; it’s about pressure. When running slow, reduce the pressure in the heating section. Too much weight on a slow-moving sheet squeezes out the life of the paper and ruins its elasticity. ✅ 3. Don’t Starve it of Glue Some try to save costs by reducing glue, but low glue means less moisture. Without that moisture the liner becomes bone-dry and snaps during folding. The Golden Rule Your Speed, Steam, and Pressure must work together. If one goes down, the others must follow to keep the board healthy Have you noticed more waste when your line slows down? Let’s discuss how you manage your heat settings in the comments! 👇
